Weekend Adventure

This last weekend took me here n there and some other places. In relating to the college project of a sporting event, I witnessed a girls lacrosse game at Alfred U, my friend Ashley is on the team so I decided to kill two birds with one stone.
(I was also visiting my other friends there so the pictures were practically snapshots with the camera I had on me)

The game started at 1 in the afternoon on sunday and Alfred lost to Nazareth College 15 to 6. There were 22 fouls throughout the entire game, which could be a lot or average, I have no idea. Alfred did alright keeping up with them until the second half where the lost all hope and fell hard like a fat man slipping on ice.

I caught up with my friend Ashley after the game and asked her a few questions
For the main part, she did not want to talk about the game very much, although she had a few things to say.
•"We have 5 games left in the season, and I doubt we will make playoffs."
•"They were hard." and
•"Our team is not very good in the first place, we all seen it coming."
Spoken like a true leader, gotta love her.

External Studio #2

The latest external studio takes me to Presque Isle State Park, one of the nation's most visited National Parks. Presque Isle is not only a beautiful area for outdoor activities such as bike riding, beach going, site seeing, fishing, and sand vollyball, but it has a rich history behind it all. Misery Bay, a section of Presque, was the temporary home of Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry’s fleet during the War of 1812, and there are monuments to signify this, such as the Perry Monument as shown to the left. Presque Isle is also home to a few lighthouses, one of which was the second lighthouse ever built on lake erie.
The beaches at Presque Isle are a great place to hang out in the summer months, whereas in the winter, they can be mighty cold! Here is a picture taken at beach 11 where there is a bit of ice floating about.
Although the beaches are not warm enough to go swimming and such, the biking trails are beginning to be inhabited nowadays.
The rest of my weekend adventure on the beach was not to exciting.. it was cold and not so sunny out. I did happen to cook some cheddar brats and skipped stones on the lake and found some dead animals, but thats about it. Here is a slideshow of a few other pictures I took while I was there.

I have opinions of my own, strong opinions, but I don't always agree with them.

A few of my Photobucket Images

How can photo sharing be a good social device?
Sharing photos can be useful to those who try to stay in touch throughout the years, such as college friends, or family members. Sending pictures of events and activities helps keep people up to date with one another as well.

How can photo sharing be useful in the business aspect?
Placing photographs and images of work online can greatly increase your chances of being found by an employer, either directly or indirectly thorough a line of connections. Getting your work out there in the public mainstream will get your name out their as well, and once people connect your name with constant good work, you will have a greater chance to be contacted for a project.

What problems can occur with photo sharing?
Putting your pictures online as well as images of your work puts it in the hands of nearly anyone who wants to access it, this can easily lead to people obviously stealing your images or taking your ideas. Using watermarks on your images or protecting them through copyrighting is a great way to protect them.

Most Recent Weekend Adventure

Well this past weekend was not unlike most other weekends in my life, random, spur of the moment, and greatly inhibits the ways of my homework completion. My friends and I decided the night before that it would be a good idea to travel to Michigan! Why? To see nothing more then a single retail store no bigger then the room you are probably in right now. The name of this "Legendary" place is called Moosejaw. It is a company created by a group of friends with great personalities and senses of humor, let alone their knowledge in outdoor sports. I would have to say that www.moosejaw.com is easily one of the best climbing and outdoor sports merchandise sites out there, so why not visit it in person? Right? Well thats what we did, although most of my time during the weekend when I was not at the store itself or in the car messing with passers by in anyway possible, I was sleeping and getting over my cold. (or drinking beer).
By the way, while at Moosejaw I bought a hang board, and if you don't know what that is then just don't you worry about it, I also got my girlfriend a rockin' T-shirt and a sweet frisbee. I thought the frisbee was so cool cause it was just crazy looking and I felt like I could throw it forever, but it hurts really bad when you try to catch it. Turns out it is a frisbee golf frisbee. Kinda upset about that. When we told the people working that we drove from PA to get there they were completely stunned that we would do such a thing. So they gave us free stickers.
All I can say about my new media assignment dealing with urban decay is that passing through Detroit Michigan was more then enough decay for one trip. All I could do was quickly shoot a few pictures here and there out the window of the car, not quite 15 but I would have to say it was a pretty horrible place to be and I defiantly didn't want to have my window down for to long, let alone stop the car at a red light. Luckily I made it out alive, and I think I even got a picture of who I thought was Whoopi Goldberg.

Intro

Hey everyone, this is the introduction to my blog Xtreme Outdoors. This is my first blog, a project for my new media class at Mercyhurst College in good ol' Erie, PA. Although this is my first "blogging" experience, I am going to try to make it as creative and informative as I possibly can. My blog will cover all the projects given by my professor, as well as touching upon tips, tricks, techniques, stories, videos, and pictures of a variety of outdoor sports and whatnot of that matter. I hope I can set up a useful blog for all those interested in the outdoors, as well as those forced to look at it during class.

Keep on Keepin' on
